The Inverse Slippery Slope: Where Does It End?

So I was thinking the other day that those of us in the liberty sphere need to define when we will stop pushing for greater gun freedoms, as a sort of baseline goal. It is noteworthy that anti gunners do not do this-they just keep saying that this one piece of legislation is the one that will end the scourge of "gun violence" forever and ever world without end hosana hosana hosana amen. And then they go and spout about how those terrifying gun nuts won't be reasonable like the English or the Chinese. In any case, if you are wondering when Chris By-The-Throat considers his 2A rights to be complete, this article will discuss that issue.

Given that 2A is considered an individual right, let me give you a starting point: that means anything that is not crew served. Personal weaponry is the benchmark of individual rights, as in, how much power is the State willing to concede to the individual. So here is the laundry list.

NFA Law Reform - No unusual regulation on SBRs, SBS, Suppressors, AOWs or MGs, they will be bought and sold like all other firearms. The way the laws are structured now, especially with the pre 86 requirement, means that only the very wealthy can afford to get into machine gun shooting, and a right enjoyed only by the rich is generally known by the more accurate term "privilege."

Constitutional carry in every state. Sorry folks, but "keep and bear" means "own and carry." Criminalizing the carry of weapons at all does nothing to prevent street crime, but it does give the cops a good reason to hassle anyone they see carrying a weapon. Since that whole "blood in the streets" prophecy never came true, it is sheer idiocy to persist in this affront.

Mandatory firearms education in high schools. Frankly, this will do more to prevent accidents than anything that gun banners have ever done, with the added bonus of a zombie proof society. Even more frankly, if the system is churning out kids that can't shoot and don't know anything about guns then the education system is failing. Guns exist-even the most deluded anti gun zealot has to concede this point-and they are something that should be understood by everyone who wants to vote on public policy regarding guns.

An end to compliance parts restrictions, better known as "a good way to throw honest men in jail." Seriously, how does requiring US made parts in a semi automatic rifle curb crime?

A complete deregulation of non ballistic weapons with regards to both ownership and carry. Sorry folks, but there is no way you can rationalize allowing pistols and banning switchblades and sword canes.

Should all of these things come to pass, I will be drop my JPFO membership and instead donate to the non ILA side of the NRA, the one that focuses on education and safety instead of legislative action. Why? Because I will consider my 2A rights to be within the realm of "shall not be infringed."

Now, to all those anti gun types out there, I feel I have to ask-when will you be done? With a reasonable model like England's? Norway? South Africa? When will you say "We are doing enough to control gun violence, time to hang up the bloody t-shirt I've been waving all this time?"

Somehow I don't think we'll ever get an answer.

The Fey Wars - in case you thought this r srus blog

So Gracie is really into Tinkerbell, particularly the new CGI movies, and as I am often sitting there smoking a bowl and watching it with her, my mind tends to take a wandering piss now and again, and you're looking at the results.

No, not the rivalry / girl crush between Tink and Vydia, although that is a favorite theme of mine. My interest today is violence, not sex.

There is actually this whole cross media expanded Disney Fairy Universe, and as an afficianado of cross media continuities I naturally tend to envision the things that are not pictured overtly in the media. And one of the things I picked up on from my wander today through the Disney Fairies Wikia and from my nine billionth time watching the goddamn movies and reading the goddamn books and buying the goddamn commemorative crack pipe is that the fairies have a number of enemies.

And I mean, that's natural, right? Can't have a species with no predators, or they overrun the Neverland fighting bitter wars over pixie dust or some shit. So there is this kind of rogue's gallery of critters that pose a threat to Fairies, such as Sprinting Thistles(a sort of aggressive plant creature) Wasps, and Hawks. From the movies and books it seems like their attitude towards their enemies is strictly defensive, although the Animal fairies notably do not build hawk's nests and Garden Fairies don't water the Sprinting Thistle seeds.

This line of stoned questioning got me thinking today-where are the Fairie death squads? I mean, look, defensive posturing is well and all, but you don't win a war on ravenous Neverhawks by ducking under a mushroom and pissing yourself. You do it by smashing hawk eggs and dumping chicks out of the nest.

After that, the rest was easy. For hawks, a mixed squad of animal and scouting talent fairies during the nesting season could easily find the nests and clean house, ensuring no chicks for any hawks within flying range. Then for wasps, you add in a few fast flying talent fairies to serve as diversions and buffers against the wind, and you add a light fairie or two to burn the nest. (Oh, you didn't know? Light fairies can start fires by focusing a sunbeam hot enough.) Again, target the young in both cases-sooner or later the older generation will die off and the eggs and larvae are much softer targets.

The sprinting thistles were more difficult, as their breeding cycle is never properly defined...but hey, every field needs a good burning once in awhile? Seems like a good place to get the tinker talent fairies involved-first you have a few water fairies keep the rain off the fields where the thistles have been found, and you get your tinkers to dig fire breaks and rig up some obstacles before you burn those genocidal thorny bastards out. A ceiling of fast flying and scouting talent fairies with torches overhead catches any strays before they can spread, and then your water talent fairies drench the area and put out the seeds. Finally, you get your garden fairies to go through and make sure none of the bastard plants dropped any seeds.

Do you think these are thoughts that crazy people have?

Duty and Self Preservation: The AP Example

So Arctic Patriot posted an example of a SHTF scenario that I wanted to talk about here.

This is one of the first times I'm actually fulfilling my initial purpose for this blog, which is to talk about stuff that I can't talk about on ZS. I respect ZS's rules and understand why they are in place, but sometimes, some things, need to be addressed directly in the survival community without mincing words or using cute metaphors.

The main thrust of AP's example was as follows.

A nasty period of violence breaks out. Rule of law is gone. You are convinced that it is morally wrong to initiate violence. You receive clear information indicating that tonight, a mob/gang that is sheltered at a certain house plans to ransack and destroy your neighborhood. Mobs are not kind to women and children, like those in your care.

Do you preempt and remove the threat, risking your conscience and possibly your soul?

What we are debating, then, is the relative morality of a preemptive strike on a known threat to your family's safety.

Don't waste time hemming and hawing about how no intel is 100% or how you can always flee or anything else. This is a hypothetical experiment, so just think about it as it is presented. You know people are going to ransack and burn your neighborhood 24 hours from now, and you know where they are hiding out right now.

For me, the answer is simple. I am of the tribe of Scumfuck, and fuck all other motherfuckers. If I know, I mean actually know that they are coming, I see no reason to wait for them. I would much rather catch them by surprise; it increases my chances of winning and I cannot afford to lose. The decision for me is a strategic and not a moral one. But I don't wrangle in my heart over labels like "Self Defense" "Zero Aggression Principle" "No More Fort Sumters"-these are doctrinate points and I don't worry too much about doctrine, I just need to keep my people alive, at any cost to myself up to and including eternal damnation.

But it seems like a question a lot of people should be asking themselves.

Daddy and Gracie Day

Today, Saturday, is Daddy and Gracie day.

We are doing well enough that Manda only works on Saturdays. I think at least half of it is that she likes getting out of the house and into society once a week, but we also get a lot of free groceries, a little extra money and, of course, Daddy and Gracie day.

Today's events are reduced; usually we go over to a friend's house so she can play with their kids, but they are at a funeral. And we usually drop by and see Mommy at work and then walk along the B line for awhile. She loves seeing the sights around town; decorative limestone and flowers are some of her favorite things. But today it is officially Too Goddamn Hot For September and so we are cancelling that as well. The only thing we're doing today is eating chocolate toast and watching UFC. Later, we'll go on our usual classy date to Mcdonald's.

Gonna be a good day, motherfuckers.
