How Do I Join the Ronnie Barrett Fan Club?

All right, so here's the problem.  Ronnie Barrett is awesome and I want to send him my money.

Your first question probably isn't "Why is Ronnie Barrett Awesome?" but in case it was, here's why.

Elected state officials of , having been sworn to protect our Constitution, have instead committed an offense against it and their citizens by stripping inalienable rights duly protected and guaranteed under the Second Amendment. By their deliberate and sinister actions, these officials now cause their state and local policing agencies to enforce these unconstitutional and illegal so called “laws.”
By current law, Barrett cannot be an accomplice with any lawbreaker, therefore, cannot and will not service or sell to New York government agencies. Barrett also applies this stance to the individual elected official who, as a matter of public record, has voted for or created regulation that violates the constitutional rights of their citizens. This is an expansion of our 2002 ban against the California government due to their Second Amendment infringements, and shall apply to any future violators.

So yeah, pretty obvious.  This isn't even their first time doing this to a .gov agency.

The real dilemma I'm having is that I want to send the dude my money, but I don't want to send him $4000 bucks worth of my money for a super sick 50 cal rifle.  I don't really have a slot for it in my tactical defense needs, by my own fucking judgement and no one else's but I still want to show my support for a dude with the nads of a buffalo who stands up to this kind of government bullshit.

My solution is pretty simple: Fucking T-Shirts.  Does that make me a poseur if I have the T-Shirt but not the rifle?

I don't think so motherfucker.  I'm just part of the fan club.

Grovelling Sniveling Driveling Horde...

...to worship scaly overload.

I'm gonna present the following link on Reddit.

Don't be fooled by the name.  This is where the gun grabbers are making their stand on Reddit.  Call it the Reddit Front of the Gun Control "Conversation."

Look at their rules, their statements, the hoops you have to jump through just to see the actual hot posts.  Look at their stated purpose, how carefully they assure that they will have Reasoned Discourse and nothing else.  From their sidebar image:

"Because of an ongoing vote brigade by all the pro gun subreddits, all links will remain hidden until you do the following (Bullshit settings change instructions that any retard should be able to figure out on his own.)
THEY: (Referring to you, the gun owning public with an internet connection and an opinion) Dominate reddit and real life - 100,000+ Redditors - 300,000,000 Lobbying Budget - They own your politicians - They suffocate opposition.
WE: (Referring to the bold crusaders for "Reasonable" gun control) ...don't have any of that.  But we do have a sense of humor.  We own guns, but actually care about their impact.  So when they snap and go on a rampage, we say....GUNS ARE COOL.
Down vote brigaded since 12/22/12

Why do anti gunners hate democracy so much that half of their sidebar is devoted to how awful and unfair it is to be voted down?  Wah, wah, we have to debate in an unmoderated environment and we keep losing, wah, wah, the big bad NRA must be paying people to downvote.

Listen.  They are so fucking afraid of you that they have to hide their posts, hide their motivations, hide endlessly pissing themselves quietly in the dark of the internet and hope no one catches on.

It'll take a gunblogger with more clout than me to really open a front there, but I bet we could rout them entirely off reddit if they are this pitifully outmatched.  It's something I'd like to see.

Slick Rick and his Bag of Tricks

There isn't really a point to the post title.

Oh wait!  Yes there is.

So the big thing now is fighting "Slick."  I know it's the big thing now because I read it in SWAT magazine and it was further expounded upon in a thread on Bacon Survival.  It means stuffing crap in your pockets and fighting out of that, instead of using some form of LBE.

I've seen it before now, though I never knew what the TOTALLY OMG SWEET operator term for it was.  I think Tam even mentioned something about the Mk 4 Jeans Back Pocket Magholder in one of her posts a couple years ago.  Fundamentally, it is a good idea in the sense that it gets you to stop fiddling around with your toys and actually learn to fight.

But this is a continuum to which there are apparently limits.  Sure, you can cite endless statistics where you only need the ammo currently in your weapon, with maybe one reload, and say you are covered.  If anyone suggests anything more, it is obviously because they are a gear encrusted mall ninja with no hope of survival loaded down with all those extra magazines and tourniquets.  I get that principle and really, despite the inevitable snark, I approve...but how "slick" can you get?

Anyway, what I want to tell Slick Rick and his crew is-why aren't you learning to fight empty handed?  Isn't that the "Slickest" method of all?  If you don't train with a chest rig because you aren't ALWAYS wearing a chest rig, should you stop training with a gun because you aren't ALWAYS wearing a gun?  After all, plenty of conflicts start and finish without a single weapon coming into play.  Hell, what about pants?  I'm not ALWAYS wearing pants.  Maybe I should just drop trow at the range next time and if someone calls me on it, I'll yell "SLICK LOL NOOB."

The worst of these slicksters tend to get huffy when you bring things like this up, often because they have no experience or training in unarmed fighting.  (That in itself could make another post, but I'll let you move along with your LOL KARATE snark...for now.)  If you want to go full slick, perhaps you should get naked and do some Krav Maga.  Otherwise, practice putting your shit on under pressure, carry the gear you need (no more or less) and remain adaptable.  "Slick" sounds cool, but it is doctrine, and remember that doctrine is always limiting.

Ground Report: Bloomington Day of Resistance

So I took a couple of the tribe and my daughter to the Bloomington Indiana Day of Resistance pro gun rally today down at the courthouse.  It was surprisingly large-about 50 people overall.  It got cut short early, before I had a chance to give the speech I had prepared and, of course, plug my book.  Other than that, it turned out pretty well.  We showed up with some donuts for the war effort which I think everyone appreciated.  None of us were open carrying but there were a few people that were, mostly pistols although one guy had a bitchin' tac'ed out shotgun.

The speakers were OK; it was hard to hear some of it because the mic went dead early on and it was mostly just talking loud over the ambient noise.  I got to meet the libertarian candidate Andrew Horning, who is a pretty decent guy.  I think everybody speaking was passionate and most of them had some good messages, but nobody really wowed the crowd with their oration the way I would have...but that's to be expected.

The police did not show up until almost forty five minutes after the rally itself started and they remained discretely positioned about twenty yards away.  To me, this signifies that they didn't know about the event in advance or I feel there would have been both more police presence and they would have been there the whole time.  Still, they were polite and non confrontational, and the crowd was the same.  In general I have no complaints about the local police; if this had been the Indianapolis rally, God knows they would have been drinking, but Monroe County Sheriff's Dept and BPD both are pretty competent.

Gracie had a good time regardless; she kept wanting them to start up the chant and sing the national anthem again, she had a lot of fun with that.  She ate donuts and played in the mud and charmed everyone there to the point where they will probably remember "The Creepy Longhair with the Cute Kid" rather than "Chris By-The-Throat, author of the upcoming novel Codex Kalachnikova."  C'est la vie.

Anyway, I just wanted to drop some ground truths from my AO.  Did anyone else attend one of these events?

Where We Need To Focus

So where do gun owners need to focus now, in this little legal battle of the bulge?

Strategically, we are and have been winning.  The facts (well, the peer reviewed ones anyway) are consistently on our side.  The court decisions have been in our favor.  State governments are getting the picture and expanding gun ownership.  This is a desperate cheap shot, the cheapest shot of all, and they were prepared for it the second there was an opening with a dog and pony show the likes of which I hope to never see again.

Final nail in the coffin for gun control?  It could be, if we make the push.  What do we need to do? I have taken the liberty of compiling a bullet list.

1. The modern debate is defined by sound bites.  The infographic and the snarky parody facebook picture, along with twitter, means that you need to fit more content into less space.  The gun banners are rallying on tumblr and twitter and trying to appear larger than they are.  We know, from every comment thread on every news article, from every six month waiting period for ATF paperwork, for every long ass line outside the sheriff's office for CCW paperwork, that we outnumber then en masse, and every echo chamber they build is one we can overwhelm them in-if we are willing to go there.

2. Internal witch hunt.  We need to either educate or publicly shame the Gun Owner Butts.  You know, the ones that will let them take your semi auto rifle as long as they can keep their precious shotgun and why do you crazies need an assault weapon anyhow?  We crucified Zumbo and that other guy that Zumboed when they stepped out of line and we need to continue doing so at every opportunity.  Let them know "Need" has nothing to do with it.

3. Full court press on the local front.  The absolute best thing we can do right now to safeguard our rights is to push our state legislature to assert their own rights.  Do you know the name of your local State Senator?  What about your Sheriff?  Make them say in public that they will stick to the various Firearms Freedom acts that have been passed.  If they won't, elect yourself a firebrand.  A libertarian president might be a pipe dream, but a libertarian sheriff could make your life a lot easier as a gun owner.

4. While I'm on the subject of party-FOR GOD'S SAKE ABANDON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.  Even if Family Guy hadn't Godwined the Republican Party into irrelevance already, the Heffalumps no longer represent small government OR gun rights.   Every crowing establishment republican that is gleefully going "This wouldn't have happened with My Guy, but you jerks had to go off into Wookieland..."  Shake him by his wise old head and scream in his face "GUN OWNERS HAVE CARRIED THE TORCH FOR YOU CRAPSACK HEFFALUMPS FOR TOO LONG AND YOU SERVE UP MITT "ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN" ROMMNEY?"  They fucking deserved to lose and you know it, so wipe that partisan grin off your face and make it happen.

5. Continue networking and training as if you are going to fight a war.  I can't promise you one won't come, whether I like it or not.  But these cowards-not so much in government but as in media-need to see that the big stick is there and what the big stick is for.

New Word: Goreography

As in, the blood dancing from the gun control crowd is as sickening as it is predictable, but sometimes you just have to sit back and admire the goreography.  Tears, Mr. President.  Tears within hours, and an elaborate tearful ceremony by Sunday.

How long were you gutless cowards waiting for a suitably telegenic massacre?  And of course anyone who brings up concealed carry as a solution is "politicizing tragedy" but anyone who brings up gun control as a solution is just "trying to have a conversation."

The most egregious offender in the blood dancing category is this one with "Why does a tragedy like 9/11 change everything about air travel, but numerous gun massacres CHANGE NOTHING?"  Yeah, suddenly liberals are all OK with the post-9/11 invasive security measures, the Patriot Act, Guantanamo...they don't even see the hypocrisy.

Stuff your fucking "conversation."

How To Make A Monster (Excuse)

I promise I haven't fallen off the earth again.  I'm still in publish mode, with my very first submission having been sent and reviews starting to come in from my close friends circle on Codex.  Between that and trying to get my preps squared away further, I'm never able to update this blog.

Both Amanda and I have been working a grisly amount of overtime this season so money is good but time is short.

I did finally buy the glock but I haven't had time to shoot it yet.  I'll let you know a little more about how that kool aid tastes once I have a chance to get it out to the range.  On the whole, from dryfire and general fucking around, I can tell you two things so far: I'm spoiled by that nice short crisp single action 1911 trigger, and holding a glock feels exactly like the lego brick guns I built as a kid.  I think I'll come around simply for capacity's sake, but my anachronistic brain refuses to cooperate for now.

Tomorrow's post will be about Thanksgiving, Parenting, and Contact Drills for 4 Year Olds.  Stay tuned.

Take music, you fucking scum.  I really want to convert this angry atheist bitch to Scumfucktarianism  backstage at a concert, and somehow I think my cock and about ten grams of snow is involved.

"God made me a cannibal to fix problems like you."  Hard vore, anyone?

After Action Drill-What is yours?

Hi folks.  I'm still coming off the high of my very first carbine class.  It was a one day course and one of the things we didn't get to cover as much as I'd like is the after action drill.

The one I was taught is pretty simple and involves asking yourself a series of five questions associated with certain physical tasks.

1) Did I hit him?  (Low ready, examine target, make sure he has been hit.)
2) Did it work? (Make sure target is no longer a threat)
3) Does he have any friends? (Swivel head 180 degrees to look for further threats, turn around and look again)
4) How is my weapon? (Check ammo and condition of weapon)
5) How am I? (Do a self check for injury)

I think this covers it pretty well but I'd like to know what others are doing and how you are training these concepts.  With the short one day class we didn't get a chance to branch much off that tree WRT to after action drills and I'd like to explore contingencies.  How do you work that into training?  And how do you train the drill safely on the square range where things like spinning 360 degrees with a loaded weapon are a no-no?

I appreciate your input on the subject in advance.

My Case for the AK

I have to admit a lot of things about the AR-that they are more accurate, more ergonomic, lighter, accept more accessories, and will make me look more like "one of the good guys" during SHTF.  I have even had to grudgingly concede that a lubed AR is just as reliable as an AK, especially in a semi auto configuration.  (Though you can file this under "Things you can't do with an AR")

All in all, it is hard to argue that the AK is the superior platform and I will not try to do so here.  Rather, I am going to discuss why the AK is the  group platform, both why it was chosen and why it remains so.

Like most Hoosier roughnecks, my first semi auto rifle was an SKS.  Several of my buddies got SKS to match with mine when prepping was just, as Tam likes to put it, a spam can of 7.62, a head colander and a map to the local Big Box store.  So the initial upgrade to the AK was a simple matter of logistics-I could share ammo with the folks who had SKS rifles and use the same front sight tool.  A couple other guys upgraded as well, and generally passed their SKSes on to less fortunate group members who were still stuck with Mosins or shotguns.  (My SKS was pawned for rent money, and I still miss that Norinco whore every day.)

Anyway, that is more or less what it comes down to-it was building off the rifles we had rather than planning for the future.  It was, at heart, a brutal economic decision-but I don't really regret it.  We're wedded to the platform now, in terms of magazines, ammo, spare parts, web gear and most importantly of all muscle memory.  We know the AK, how to take it apart and keep it running, how to sight it in and shoot it.  And perhaps most importantly of all, if a new person shows up with no guns at all, we usually have a spare SKS we can toss them for 200 bucks so they can find a place in the vehicle column and not be totally helpless.

If I had it to do all over again, knowing what I know now about the AR vs. AK debate, I'd go with AR.  But you have to remember that guns and training is a tiny fraction of the prepping equation, and it would be a lot more valuable to me to invest in a new generator, dehydrator, water filter or even a pistol than a new rifle.  There are some concrete disadvantages to the AK not entirely offset by reliability, but not enough to make me tell a group of 25+ motherfuckers "Hey, drop your shit and get new rifles at 900 bucks a pop, along with new ammo, web gear, spare parts and magazines."  And one thing the AK will always have is cost-without optics, a top quality AK is usually about 1000 bucks, whereas a good AR starts at 1000 bucks and goes up-up-up.

I'm just gonna be content with the AK and accept that I won't be making long range sniper shots on any zombies in the near future.  In the end, I think it will prove enough gun for me.  Until then, I will continue to mock AR users by kicking dirt into their barrels.  And I will always love the AK, a beautiful monster, just good enough for a scumfuck like me.

Good night, Scumfucketeers.

The One Opinion No One Demanded

Ya'll have been waiting on the edge of your seats for my commentary on the Presidential debates, right?  Sit down and and be electrified.

Please smoke a bowl first; I'm much funnier then.

Not that Romney is any friend of mine, but man, I enjoyed hearing the squeals of the Cult of O on NPR after he was crucified on live TV last night, even with the moderator obviously biased towards the left side of the aisle.  I guess I'm just a natural apostate; I like seeing wannabe utopians face the fact that their brazen idol sucks, all swagger and no rain.

Fundamentally, the reptiles of the GOP old guard are proving what they based their entire decision on: that their boy can beat Obama.  I am convinced of this now, where perhaps I wasn't before given the cult of worship surrounding the big O.  What I am not convinced of is that a Mittens presidency will even put the tiniest speedbump in this careening train to fascist utopia.  Mitt is a Statist and will propose Statist solutions to Statist problems.  That would be the fucking problem right there, and MA is a damn fine example of it.

Maybe, MAYBE he can hold to the party line on gun rights, which is in itself not enough-I want someone dismantling this asinine surfeit of bizarre restrictions on personal weaponry, not murmuring weakly about "Enforcing current laws."  I want a much better cut of bleeding meat on Gunwalker.  I want GCA & NFA to be a curious relic in history books.  I want fucking Constitutional Carry.  "Supporting Gun Rights" is not "Keeping Things the Exact Same Way They Are."  That alone would reassure me that Individual Liberty and not Heffalump-flavored-tyranny is  the agenda, because it would be ceding a certain tactical advantage to FREEFOR in the form of better access to the really nasty killer toys.  That is, of course, why they will never do it.

Don't tell me about how your boy can beat Obama-that man is an empty suit, a bobble headed media face supported by the most expensive propaganda machine in human history.  And Mittens, for all his faults, has swum in the shark filled waters of political intrigue for a long time and never been eaten.  Sure he can beat Obama.  What you need to convince me of is what advantage we gain by having him in the God-Emperor chair, especially considering the stupid staggering percentage of "Patriots" who will STAND DOWN IMMEDIATELY if that happens.

In the end, the question of Social Justice vs. Individual Freedom will be settled, and not in a debate hall.  You know what I should be doing instead of scrawling this nonsense?  Fucking PT.

Good night, America.

Hey, isn't this a Gun Blog?

I held off on ordering the Glock, in case you were wondering.  In the end I had to pay for my class and I am working to prioritize training over gear this year.  But I have taken my very first SRUS rifle class.

I was all worried about having crappy gear but really, I had the opposite problem-my gear was great, the BCS rig is pretty much straight tits, my gun ran flawlessly, but I more or less sucked.  I'm prioritizing training ammo so I can really get good at rifle fundamentals-trigger control was a problem for me the whole time because once my blood got pumping from the run and gun my trigger control more or less went to shit.  There ain't no easy fix, except more practice, and Cthulhu knows I'm never going to find a range that is OK with the kind of running and gunning I want to practice, but it has to be done.  My crap vision also impairs me; I don't get a great sight picture with the stock sights. I am *not* okay with being a mediocre shooter.  I also have some equipment based solutions in mind, starting with the rather clever one from this post where you paint the front sight with nail polish.  I'll try that before I go out and buy tech sights, hopefully that will improve my groups.

Anyway, running the 1911 as my pistol the whole time made me really appreciate the trigger time I've had on it; my pistol work was much stronger than my rifle work which I did not expect.  My 1911 is a basic GI model springfield, but despite a few hiccups (mostly from faulty ammunition) it more or less grouped great compared to my rifle groups.  And I'm in the process of planning a bugout very soon where we can try to communicate our newfound ninja skills to our less fortunate comrades-in-arms.  Even beyond basic marksmanship, there is the whole other set of fighting skills that can be practiced dry and we plan on integrating them in with the rest of the tribe so we can all be on something resembling the same page.

Anyway, that is the story of Our Hero and his Rifle Class Cherry.

My Big "Why I'm Not Voting for Romney" Post

"Anyone but Obama."

I keep hearing this nonsense on facebook and from some other conservative friends in meatspace.  I never hear "Mitt Romney is so great" from them, just that anyone would be better than Obama.

But before I buy that nonsense, before I even like Mitten's page on facebook, I am going to need something.

First off, with regard to gun rights, I want to hear him say "I repent."  Not "I will respect the rights of American gun owners" or "I am a dedicated hunter and sportsman myself" or even "Gun control is morally wrong" but "I repent my sins against the gun owners of my state."  For all that he is making the right, NRA approved noises, Mittens has shown nothing but contempt for 2A and anyone that tries to say otherwise is either an idiot or a liar-he signed every piece of anti gun toilet paper that came across his desk.  In addition, because actions and not words count in politics, I want to see him begin the process of dismantling the various onerous gun regulations of Massachusetts, which are so absurd that it makes California look like a free state.

Second, I'm going to need him to stop looking at bureacracy as the solution instead of the problem.  Seriously, even without considering gun laws, Massachusetts is a pretty good example of a douchebag state government.  He can make all the noises about "Rampant spending" and "Big Government" that he wants, but his state still stands as a shining example of Big Government Utopia.  Again, actions not words-I want concrete processes in place to reduce the size of that great groaning load of sewage that is the Mass bureacracy.

I can't really hold out hopes that somehow White Obama will see the light and repent of his Statist Sins, maybe do something really crazy like stop with the endless foreign wars.  In the end, it comes down to this-the sole concrete advantage to Freefor from a Mittens presidency is that the race card has been pulled from the deck, that you can call a facist policy what it is without being lumped in with the Aryan Brotherhood.  Of course, that doesn't factor in the number of Freefor "assets" that will immediately stand down when there is a Heffalump in office instead of a Woozle.

I'm afraid until then, I will continue tilting at windmills by voting Libertarian.  Why?  Because I've gone this long without voting for a statist, and I don't plan on selling out now.  If you are, I am forced to ask, what exactly is it that you are looking forward to about a Romney presidency?  Because I see nothing but trouble on the horizon.

Scumfuck Active Shooter Response Protocol

I thought I had the mass shooting thing out of my system with the last post, but apparently not, because I have solved the problem.

This is going to sound weird coming from me because it is a collectivist solution.  I am also going to be considering the strategic problem rather than the tactical scenario.  Finally, because I am a nerd and not a high speed attack ninja, I am going to more or less approach this as a gamer.

So what is the Scumfuck Active Shooter Response Protocol?

Step 1: Determine that there is an active spree shooter present in your venue.
Step 2: Everyone get that motherfucker.

Pretty simple, really, and not that different from what other bloggers have mentioned.  To really understand the strategic goals of the SASRP, we will go over the steps one by one.

Step 1: Determine that there is an active spree shooter present in your venue.  Pretty simple.  Odds are that anyone firing at random into, say, a crowded movie theatre or a prayer meeting is not an officer serving a warrant.  (And even if he is, fuck him, because that is NOT how a peace officer should operate.)

Step 2: Everyone get that motherfucker.  This part is also clinically simple.  Once it has been determined that there is a spree shooter present, your decision tree is down to a very simple gamer's choice: "Missle or Melee, motherfucker?"

Often in the gunblogging community, we get caught up on the gun rights portion of the response.  In my mind, fuck the gun laws, fuck a civillian disarmament zone, and most of all fuck the snivel defense.  Resist-by any means available to you.  If you have a gun, use it by all means-but if you don't, get that motherfucker anyway (Note that there is no step 1.5 "Determine if you have a CCW or not."  If all you have is a pocket knife or a rock or a full soda bottle or a broken pencil-get that motherfucker.

But that isn't the whole story.  Note that it isn't "Get that motherfucker" but "EVERYONE get that motherfucker."  This is the model that assures us of success.  Doesn't matter how badass and well armed you are, if every single motherfucker in that crowded venue rushes up on you and grapples you, there is no way for the spree shooter to accumulate the mass "turkey shoot" casualties as the panicked birds brainlessly present their backs.

There will be some casualties-maybe a lot-but that item, that "Everyone" ensures the success of this model.  And I mean everyone.  That means you, bitch.  Get the fuck up and get that motherfucker.  I don't care that you have kids, I don't care that you have a heart condition, I don't care that you have a chronic phobia of full metal jacketed rounds intersecting your torso.  Get that motherfucker.  Yes, you.  If you are in a fucking wheelchair, I expect you to roll your busted ass down the aisle like a battering ram.  Even if he kills you, you can still get one good lick in to open up a chance for someone else.

So why is this a strategic rather than a tactical model?  Because in the tactical model, its all about your own personal survival, as in "How Do I Maximize My Chances Of Surviving This Event?"

But the strategic model is "How do I stop this and deter similar events in the future?"  Ah, now that is a question of sociology.  What motivates these spree shooting fucks?  The fame and notoriety of being a mass killer.  So being a small time murder who gets beaten down and taken alive without killing more than two or three motherfuckers without going out in a blaze of "glory" is the least desirable overall outcome for these jackoffs.  (Not to mention the hideous disfigurements that are going to come when the angry mob finishes ripping off your MOLLE webbing and starts on your ears and lips instead.)  What these fucks want is some dark poetry, some nihilistic acknowledgement of their status as glorious martyr-killers-so what we give them is a gouged out eyeball and a life sentence in prison.

Two or three public beatdowns on the national news in place of a spree shooting, preferably without mentioning the name of the shooter, and the next guy might just think "Well, fuck it, I'll just go back to work on monday."  Because death is not something that truly deters them-most of them off themselves when they finish their little morality plays.  But ridicule, humiliation, disfigurement...and most of all being cheated of their Mass Media Fame...that might put an actual speedbump on these incidents.  As I said, this is a collectivist strategic view, rather than an individual mandate.  And it only works if it becomes the norm for everyone to fight back.  Of course, a strategy that requires placid, docile Americans to get up and cause a ruckus...especially a ruckus where they might get sued, as somehow we fear lawsuits more than bullets...is a pretty fuckin' tough sell.  Ugh.

I need to start drinking more.

ZOMG On Demand

Holy shit another shooting.

Fuck it.

I'm sick of getting peripheral blame for shit like this.  Every time it happens, the predictable vulture screeches go up from the disarmament lobby cowards, and I'm sick of hearing it.

I'm not going to take a bunch of time to pick out the stupid things that the disarmament lobby cowards are saying; other gunnies are doing a fine job of that.  I'm not going to drop a long screed about how inanimate objects are not responsible for behavior and how "ease of killing" is actually an equality factor rather than a terrible scourge.  I'm not going to validate the media filth by describing how Insta-Fame (Just Add Bodies) is more of a cause than access to weapons.

You wanna know what I am going to do?

I'm going to strap on my weapon and go to a fucking movie.

If SHTF I'm Coming To Your House

So LizardFarmer has a post about preparedness as done by the typical "zombie level" enthusiast.  The post is here if you are interested, but I wanted to give my take on this statement of "If SHTF, I'm coming to your house!" from people who play the theoretical game but aren't willing to invest the money or time to be a serious prepper.

My typical response?  "Make yourself useful, and get used to your place in the heirarchy."  What some people who might show up do not know is that their place in the heirarchy might be "Zombie Bait" "Pack Mule" or "Cannon Fodder."  I've had decent success as an evangelical prepper, that is, I am good at getting people to make some basic preps, but many, maybe even most, never get past the Bug Out Bag level and so they think will show up at my house with a backpack full of mediocre gear and no appreciable skills.

Some of these people are friends of mine or Amanda's who like to yuk it up about zombies but don't make any serious preps.  And contrary to most prepper wisdom, in my mind that is fine-as long as they don't mind being consigned to the bottom of the deck.  You don't get a copy of the SHTF folder, you don't get a copy of the code sheet, and no one trusts you with a rifle-but if you want to hump 50 pounds of water for us, we'll give you a spot around the campfire and feed you if you don't bitch too much.

If not, well, fuck you very much sir or madam.  SHTF is no place for useless mouths.  Maybe you should have thought of that before there were shamblers pounding at your door, you stupid shit.  And believe me, I'm going to be one of those assholes that says that with glee.

What else gets somebody bum rushed out of the group on Z-Day?  Insubordination will be a big one-everybody will want their jackass opinion heard and the very reason there is a chain of command is so we don't have to listen to your bullshit.  I anticipate about half the slick urban hipsters we know will go their own way at that point.  I plan on making it clear from the beginning so I don't have to feed them.  Theft of tribal materials will probably rate some savage justice ending in expulsion.  And one more thing-if you can't fucking keep up, that is too goddamn bad for you.  I'll stick my neck out for a tribe member whose committment to the group has been proven, but I have no spare skin for dabblers.  Also, on a vehicle bugout, if cargo space is limited, then, well, goodbye poseurs.  I'll take a crate of MRE's before I'll take some people.

Will I make an exception for a hot sex slave?  I tell myself no, but Amanda will probably talk me into it.  I think she already has candidates picked out, but she won't tell me who they are.

Anyway, that was my take on the subject at hand.

Hey BTT, Why Don't You Ever Talk About Your BOB?

I get asked this once in awhile.  The truth is, for me, the 72 hour kit is a fine starting point for survivalism, but I'm a big boy now and the on foot live out of your backpack bugout is less important to me.  You'd be shocked at the state of my BOB; just food and water and a change of clothes, with a few flashlights and some ammo thrown in.  The bag itself is an unremarkable civillian hiking pack from Swissgear.

My survival kit, the ditch kit, contains my serious survival supplies like mess items and fire starting kit and the like.  I've proven to myself on my bugouts that I can make that work by itself for me in the field, and so my BOB is mostly just large amounts of food and water for myself and Gracie, along with a resupply of ammo (one full loadout's worth) and spares batteries, etc for the items in my ditch kit and web gear.

Neither are particularly impressive, but like I said-I'm a big boy now.  I'm more into the food storage and the every day self defense and the community holdfast concepts than the lone bugout in the wilderness.  In the end, if I do need to bug out, god willing I'll be doing it by vehicle, and in that case I can just toss that fucker in the trunk so I have plenty of food and spare clothing.

I'm contemplating adding an INCH tub or dufflebag as a supplementary item, but it is going to be mostly more food and ammo.  Really, what I ought to do is cache some shit at the BOL instead so I don't have to carry it.  However, there is some shit I want to put in there that might surprise you-not just hemp seeds or a spare bong either.  I actually want to put in a nice suit, my resume and some grooming equipment.  Why?  If I have to INCH, I'm gonna need a new job, so I need to be ready for that big interview.  Bet you hadn't thought of that one, Mr. Smarty Pants Survivalist Hardcase.

In the end, though, I am moving away from the focus on the bugout and moving towards being able to secure my home and neighborhood against external forces.  Part of the reason is practical, as I've laid out-but another part of it is philosophical, in that I don't plan on letting a bunch of lawless cocksuckers run me out of my home.  That doesn't mean the BOB is useless or unimportant-just that it is the least likely of all probable scenarios.  And though it is the easiest thing to take nifty pictures of, you are gonna feel mighty stupid if you blow the main chunk of your time and energy on it and it still sits in the closet gathering dust when SHTF.

CBTT Plays Cassandra: Gunwalker Predictions

A lot of people are covering gunwalker right now and the invocation of Executive Privellege on the documents surrounding it.  I'm not going to bore you with the details-if you are reading this blog, you probably know most of them.  I'm just going to go all Cassandra of Troy here and make a couple of predictions.

#1: The Vanderbouegh fantasy doesn't happen; Gunwalker is NOT the scandal that delegitamizes this administration.  While the idea of one lone blogger breaking a scandal that brings a sitting POTUS down is a powerful one, that just isn't going to happen.  Like it or not, the Old Media Industrial Complex is circling the wagons here and protecting their investment.
#2: After a long period of partisan haggling, the GOP succeeds in getting Justice to produce documentation and....it's TURR'RISTS!  W invoked EP for the same reason several times, citing a danger to personnel in the field.  Maybe legit, maybe not-which is the tricky thing about EP.  While Gunwalker likely had nothing to do with terrorists, some post dated documentation wouldn't be hard to fabricate.  There are some suspected links between Hezbollah and various Mexican cartels-but the important thing is that most brain dead mouth breathers in TV land hear the term 'TURR'RISM' and start bleating like sheep demanding that we take more of their money and freedom.
#3: The whole thing blows over just in time for the election, with bloggers once more relegated to Tinfoil Hat territory.  Maybe another AWB goes through after the election, maybe not-but more importantly people will only snicker at anything they didn't see on their cable news propaganda ticker.
#4: The Drug War marches on over the broken bodies of anyone who dissents.
#5: Rachael Maddow continues to be a cunt.

This will be the last thing I post about Gunwalker.  The legitimacy of  this government has never been in question for me.  They've been killing my people too long.

Get to work, mother fuckers.  I'd rather most of you survive.

Drinking the Glock Kool Aid

Yeah, you read that right.

I've been itching for a modern polymer fightin' pistol for some time and I got the opportunity to finger fuck a glock 21 recently, which is the one that I'm interested in.  People bitch about glock ergos, but I have giant rape ape hands so it wasn't too bad for me, with the caveat of course that I hadn't shot it yet.  I got my springfield during the great 1911 renaissance of 2001 or so, after reading my umpteenth billion article about them, but I want a higher capacity and more reliability for my primary fighting pistol.

Why a 21, exactly?  Because I may be fiendishly cheating on God's Pistol, but I'll be damned if I'm going to use anything but God's Caliber.

The Glock 21SF is what I am most interested in; the Internets seems to have a higher opinion of it and I want an integrated rail, though for what I don't know-I just like having options.  Of course, buying a new pistol means a new holster, new magazines and a new manual of arms, so I am currently researching all that shit.  Amanda is all hot and bothered to get her paws on my Springfield GI 1911; she has proven herself a good shot with it and likes the ergos, so this decision on my part will allow us to put off buying her a dedicated pistol for awhile and we can both take a pistol class together later if we want to.

Anyway, I keep hearing about magazine compatability in the G21 vs. the G21SF-one will take the other's mags but it doesn't go both ways.  Does anybody have the definitive word?  I'd like to keep my PAW magazine looting as simple as possible.  (Also my pre PAW magazine buying, but really, is that as much fun to say?)  I'd also like to know a little bit about what off brand magazines to avoid and what holsters tend to work best.

What say you, Scumfucketeers?
